I remember with excitement the first time I drew equipment at the Central Issuing Facility at Fort Jackson in 2011. I couldn’t wait to get back to my room to try it all on, and see how I looked as a Soldier. I recall the gravity of my decision to enter the Army, when I felt the weight of my helmet on my head and my armored chest vest wrapped around me.
